Our teachers

Our teachers aim to encourage a child’s spontaneous desire to learn in an environment which will stretch the child’s mind and stimulate his/her natural curiosity.
The teachers, therefore, give direction, and constantly observe and encourage, never being critical or negative about a child’s effort, but rather helping the child to help him/herself.

Samantha Finlay

Hello, my name is Sam and I am the Principal of Greenacres Pre-Primary School. My early childhood career began back in 1985 when I first started working with deaf children. Throughout my career so far, I have had the pleasure of working with infants, toddlers, preschool and school-aged children, in both mainstream and special needs environments, leading small and large teams, managing different-sized centres, and building, designing, and managing my school. I am a qualified ECD teacher and have 30 years of experience teaching, mentoring and facilitating children.

Teaching and babysitting as given me valuable insights into child development and caregiving. Witnessing the growth and development at each milestone they reach, brings such joy and satisfaction. From crawling to walking and eventually getting ready for “big school”.  Being a part of their journey and seeing them progress is such a fulfilling experience.

Carmen Baard

Teaching preschool children is not just a job for me; it’s a calling.

I grew up in a school environment, as my mom was a teacher and principal of her school. It brings me immense joy and fulfilment knowing that I have the opportunity to shape the minds of the next generation and make a positive difference in their lives. There’s an undeniable joy that comes from witnessing the curiosity and wonderment that young minds possess.
